Newtown Social Club

The fit-out of the Newtown Social Club on Brunswick street in Fitzroy gives the cafe an expression that reflects the identity of the owners, and provides them with a textural surface that allows them to continually personalise the space, a panelling system was devised for the internal walls of the cafe. Wheels of mountain ash, cut by hand from Juliet's property in Kinglake, are fixed to large mesh panels and mounted on the walls. The organic and tactile nature of these walls provide a canvas for continuous growth, in the new café situated on one of Melbourne's iconic shopping strips.
