Fox & Squirrel house

Nestled into the existing landscape, a new country home echoing the contours of the site.Following and inspired by the form of the topography, two stone walls perform as architectural elements to define hierarchy and circulation.

The first provides an entry sweeping up from the ground, framing views to the adjoining lake, whilst the second separates service space from the luxurious living spaces of the house.A rivulet cascades through the entry lobby towards the lake, bisecting the composition and producing tranquility throughout.

Sitting above the stone, exposed scissor trusses define the interior spaces. Double height living with a sloping ceiling and pitched roof directs the eye outward to the horizon and surrounding landscape.

The use of natural materials reflects the significance of the arresting setting and the importance of remaining sympathetic to the surrounding environment.
